Count the sleeping Lords...

Went to the Houses of Parliament in London on Wednesday. We played a few fun (not) games throughout the day. First, we played chase the professor up and down Whitehall (where Parliament is) all mofo day and almost get hit by 7 different cars. Second, we played follow the old woman around the building and pretend to listen. I though she would be interesting. She is supposed to be one of the people involved in breaking the enigma code (German code in WWII). Instead, she was an old ass woman who waddled around the houses and got corrected by my teacher on multiple occasions. Why does my professor know more than a member of the House of Lords? Anyway, then we played see who can sleep without getting caught because the meetings were BORING. Informative, but BORING. Then we sat in on a debate in the House of Lords. Its fun to be a fly on the wall in someplace so important. We counted the sleeping Lords and Ladies. I only found 2 but half the room was under where I was so I couldnt see them. My favorite was the lady in red who almost fell out of her seat. I didnt expect those benches to be so comfy but I guess when a majority of the members is over 80, its gotta be expected. Then we had more meetings. My favorite was with the crazy Liberal Democrat (third party). Then we sat in on the House of Commons. No sleeping there, just about 13 people in the entire room all heckling the hell out of whoever the speaker was. This one dude had the deepest voice and kept saying shit like "yea" and "thats right" but we could not FIND HIM!!!! bastard. Then we had one more meeting with a guy who had to keep leaving to vote on stupid stuff. Out of 45 minutes we actually heard him speak for 10. The rest of the time my classmates were bitching about how tired and hungry they were. I eat like a pig and need 15 hours of sleep per day and I managed all right so I dont know what they were bitching about. But really, it was an excellent day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also learned a lot, although when i went to bed I forgot most of it. I am really happy to have had the experience that I had and everything here has been wonderful. On a side note, I just finished all my papers up so that is a big fat relief. Now just one tutorial left (on monday) and 4 finals. I am very ready to go home now. I love England but I want to see the fam, especially my Grandpa and just relax for a little while. I feel like I need a vacation after this semester. I have done more work here than I have done in three years at FDU so I really feel good about myself now. Well Its 1am and I am super tired so Im gonna go for now but I wanted to do the Parliament thing like I said I would. Hizzollizza mah brothazzz!!! hahah!!

It's a shame you didn't really enjoy it. I had a blast when I went to the House of Reps and the Senate. They weren't in session, but not like it matters. If I wanted to watch them, I could just turn on C-SPAN.
